About the Major Transport Infrastructure Authority

The Major Transport Infrastructure Authority was established on 1 January 2019 to oversee the major transport projects in planning and construction and is comprised of the following project groups:

  • Level Crossing Removal Project
  • Major Road Projects Victoria (Suburban Roads Upgrade and other projects across Victoria)
  • North East Link Project
  • Rail Projects Victoria (Metro Tunnel Project, Regional Rail Revival, Airport Rail Link, Suburban Rail Loop)
  • West Gate Tunnel Project.

About the program

Graduates will participate in tailored rotations over two years. The first year of the program includes two rotations within a ‘home’ project. In the second year, each graduate will have an opportunity to work within another MTIA project group or externally with one of our key advisors or project partners.

Graduates will be exposed to a variety of teams and specialisations within their discipline.

Graduates will participate in the Graduate Learning Series will offer the opportunity to strengthen workplace and project delivery learning. This includes opportunities for cross-discipline learning through a series of cross discipline intro sessions.

Applications for the 2020 Major Transport Infrastructure Authority (MTIA) Graduate Program are open until 11:59pm Thursday 4 April 2019.

Eligible applicants must have completed their undergraduate degree after May 2018 and on or before 31 January 2020.

For University of Melbourne and University of Western Australia graduates

If you completed your undergraduate degree and then immediately afterwards completed your Masters degree at the University of Melbourne or University of Western Australia – you are eligible to apply.

If you only completed your Masters degree at the University of Melbourne or University of Western Australia, you are not eligible.

The MTIA Graduate Program is designed for students completing an undergraduate degree and is not generally suitable for applicants who have progressed to post-graduate qualifications.

Eligible applicants must, at the time of applying, be eligible to work in Australia. MTIA will not support sponsorship.

Offers

MTIA anticipates making offers to the successful candidates in mid-2019.

Application process

Discipline leads and our human resources teams, will be leading the recruitment of our 2020 graduates. Our recruitment process involves the following steps:

  1. Online application
  2. Online cognitive assessment
  3. Video question assessment
  4. Assessment Centre (group) assessment. At this stage candidates will be asked to preference a ‘home’ project group.
  5. Individual interviews – relevant only for some disciplines
  6. Offer
  7. Commence Graduate Program – February 2020
