Upcoming day works for North East Link

We’re building the missing link in Melbourne’s freeway network.

From late June, we'll be relocating overhead power lines underground to make way for upcoming works on the North East Link project.

What we'll be doing

Works include:

  • establishing a temporary work site
  • using high pressure air, water and scanners to locate existing underground services
  • using machinery to cut into the road and pavement
  • installing pipes and cables underground
  • replacing power poles
  • removing vegetation
  • restoring the works area when our investigations and relocations are finished.

Where and when we'll be working

We'll be working at Park Avenue, Outhwaite Avenue, and along the Koonung Creek Reserve from 4 July 2022 up to mid November.

Working hours are 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, and 7am to 1pm Saturday.

Please note dates and times are subject to change.

Closure of Koonung Creek Trail

To safely carry out these works, the Koonung Creek Trail will be closed with a pedestrian and cyclist detour in place.

The path will temporarily close on 12 July 2022 until mid November 2022 to complete works.

We will reopen the path during the school holiday period from mid September to early October.

Road closure

Park Avenue and Outhwaite Avenue will be closed from the Park Avenue bend to the intersection of Outhwaite Avenue and Koonung Court for approximately 2 weeks from mid July.

Residents will be notified when these closures are to occur. Access will be maintained to all properties at all times.

What this means for you

You may notice:

  • workers and vehicles
  • traffic controllers and signage
  • road closures and reduced speed limits
  • footpath closures
  • pedestrian and cyclist detours with traffic controllers on site to guide you
  • noise from machinery and equipment.

Safety is our priority and we ask for your assistance by following all instructions and signage.

Managing impacts

We carefully manage our works to avoid impacting people and the environment.

This includes:

  • securing worksites with fencing
  • maintaining access to properties
  • reducing noise at the source
  • using targeted directional lighting
  • preventing dust and water runoff.
