Box Hill: June works update

5 June 2024 to 5 July 2024

Works are underway in Box Hill to deliver Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East for Melbourne and Victoria.

What we are doing

Day works 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 1pm Saturday
Night works 6pm to 7am Monday to Sunday
Extended works 1pm to 6pm Saturday

The following works will be carried out during May.

Irving Avenue, Box Hill	Day works and extended works: From Monday 17 June for up to 11 months	Moving underground services	Traffic management in place Up to 15 car spaces closed
Station Street, Box Hill	Day works: from Monday 17 June for up to 7 months Night works: From Monday 17 June for up to 4 nights	Moving underground services	Overnight road closures between Thames Street and Whitehorse Road for up to 4 nights Reduced to one lane in each direction between Thames Street and Irving Avenue Route 903 bus stops closed (Thames Street/ Station Street). Nearest available bus stop is located at Severn Street/Station Street Traffic management in place Pedestrian detours Moderate levels of noise
Bruce Street, Box Hill	Day works: From Saturday 1 June for up to 9 months Night works: From Monday 3 June for up to 3 nights	Road modifications	Overnight road closure Traffic management in place Up to 4 car spaces closed

Impacts

As with all major infrastructure projects, surrounding communities may experience some impacts during construction. The Project supports businesses and residents to continue to live, work, study and shop in their community.

How we will manage our works

We will minimise impacts to the community by:

Transporting materials from site in covered trucks to minimise dust
Installing road safety and detour signage
Maintaining access to homes and businesses
Monitoring noise, dust and vibration levels
Using noise blankets on equipment
Using water and dust suppressants.
