Looking back on the award-winning Bell to Moreland level crossing removal project.
Since the opening of 2 new state-of-the-art stations at Coburg and Moreland as part of level crossing removal works in June 2020, passengers have been enjoying modern, accessible facilities and city views from atop the platforms.
As part of the project, 4 level crossings were removed from the Upfield line; at Bell Street, Munro Street and Reynard Street in Coburg and Moreland Road in Brunswick. An elevated rail bridge was built over the roads to improve safety, reduce congestion, and create better east-west connections for the community.
2.5kms of new open space has been welcomed by the community, with walking and cycling paths, bike repair stations, active equipment, playgrounds and dog parks built under the new elevated rail line.
Station renders play an important role throughout a project lifecycle, providing the community with a look at their new stations before construction begins and while works are underway. They also play a pivotal role in gathering community feedback – with the project team seeking feedback on design elements using these renders throughout the project.
