We see you on the Monash Freeway Upgrade Stage 2

The Monash Freeway Upgrade – Stage 2 has a vision of delivering large scale infrastructure projects through safety innovations.

Behind the safety barriers there is an excavator that sees all via its 360-degree camera system. The multi-camera views are combined onto a digital display providing the operator with a live feed of the excavator surroundings.

The elimination of blind spots means the operator can see potential safety hazards as they occur and take appropriate action. As this technology is highly suited to operations in narrow work areas and next to other work crews, it has been deployed to help with earthworks in the centre median of the Monash Freeway.

So far, we’ve removed 50,000 tonnes of soil between Warrigal Road and Cardinia Road clearing the way for 36 km of new lanes. Works on the Monash Freeway Upgrade will be completed in 2022 making journeys quicker, easier and safer for the 470,000 drivers using the freeway every day.
