Works continue on major road upgrades

Work is continuing safely on Victoria’s Big Build, our biggest transport upgrade ever. Construction on large-scale public infrastructure projects is critical and strict COVID safe plans are in place on all project sites across Victoria.

Due to lower traffic volumes expected, there will be additional disruption to roads and freeways. Find out if you’re affected by checking our Disruptions map.

Monash Freeway Upgrade

There will be additional works on the Monash Freeway Upgrade including overnight freeway closures, and daytime lane and ramp closures on the Monash Freeway and surrounding roads.

M80 Upgrade

M80 Ring Road

There will be an ongoing closure of the slow lanes of the M80 Ring Road between Sydney Road and Edgars Road from 8pm Sunday 30 May to 5am Friday 4 June. Speeds will be reduced to 60km/h during this time.

Blaxland Avenue overpass

Works continue on the Blaxland Avenue cycling and pedestrian overpass. The overpass remains closed until Friday 11 June.

Mordialloc Freeway

As works continue on the Mordialloc Freeway, there will be lane closures and speed reductions on local roads intersecting with the work site over the coming days.

Mornington Peninsula Freeway

The Mornington Peninsula Freeway will be closed southbound overnight between Springvale Road and Thames Promenade from Sunday 30 May to Tuesday 1 June, 7pm to 6am.

Western Roads Upgrade

Overnight closures continue on Ballarat Road in Ardeer, Maidstone Street in Altona and Heaths Road in Werribee. There will be additional daytime lane closures on Ballarat Road on Monday 31 May and Tuesday 1 June.

Fitzsimons Lane Upgrade

Works continue on the Fitzsimons Lane Upgrade with lane closures on Fitzsimons Lane at Main Road and Porter Street intersections.

Plenty Road Upgrade

Works continue on the Plenty Road Upgrade between South Morang and Mernda, with lane closures and speed reductions in place along sections of Plenty Road. Riverdale Boulevard is closed at Plenty Road until late-June while we upgrade the intersection.
