Anzac Station – a new transport hub on St Kilda Road

After 3 years of underground construction, the Metro Tunnel’s new Anzac Station is taking shape under St Kilda Road, with the final wall and roof structures now in place.

Easy access to the city and beyond

The new station will ease congestion on St Kilda Road, the busiest tram corridor in the world.

When construction is complete, passengers will be able to travel from Anzac Station to the CBD in 2 minutes, to Parkville in 10 minutes, and eventually through to Melbourne Airport.

This project is set for completion in 2025, a year ahead of schedule.

St Kilda Road transport hub

St Kilda Road will become a bustling transport hub, with a fully accessible tram super-stop planned to service the new underground station, as well as a pedestrian underpass connecting to the Shrine Grounds and Albert Road Reserve.

Protected bike lanes will be built, so that bike riders can ride two abreast in both directions between Dorcas Street and Toorak Road without the risk of being hit by car doors or moving traffic. Plans are also underway to build safe bike lanes down the rest of the St Kilda Road corridor.
