Grattan Street closed to traffic as building of the Parkville Station entrances begins
Major works on the Metro Tunnel project are now underway to support construction of Parkville Station.
The new station will be built directly below Grattan Street, connecting the world-class education, health and research precinct to the rail network for the first time. There will be four station entrances providing direct access to The University of Melbourne, The Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Peter McCallum Cancer Centre.
The design of the new Parkville Station precinct will create 3,500 square metres of new public space through the reconfiguration of road space.
Traffic changes on Grattan Street
From Friday 14 February 2020 for up to five weeks, Grattan Street will be closed between Flemington Road and Elizabeth Street/Royal Parade.
Grattan Street westbound lanes, between Flemington Road and Elizabeth Street/Royal Parade, will remain closed for three years.
Vehicles accessing Grattan Street from Flemington Road for the taxi zone, drop-off/pick-up parking and disability parking will be required to perform a U-turn and exit via Flemington Road.
