Victorian-first roundabout opens on Moray Street
We’re upgrading the Moray Street bike path to give cyclists, pedestrians and motorists a reliable alternative to St Kilda Road during construction of the new Anzac Station.
The first of 2 new Victorian-first roundabouts has opened at the Dorcas Street intersection. Pedestrians and cyclists will be given right-of-way over motorists to allow for safe crossing.
The safety benefits are delivered via a raised zebra crossing and a new dedicated bike path running parallel at each pedestrian crossing. This gives cyclists right-of-way and require vehicles to stop, allowing cyclists to pass through the roundabout freely.
The second roundabout at Coventry Street will open in coming weeks, and the bike path is set to be completed in August.
