We’re almost a week into construction and the old roundabout at Thompsons Road and Frankston-Dandenong Road in Carrum Downs has gone!
Our crews have been working around the clock to demolish the roundabout and remove the existing road. We’ve already finished preparing the sub-base for the new pavement and have now laid 2800 tonnes of cement treated crushed rock which will form the base of the new road.
We’ll also be spending a bit of time underground, finishing drainage and installing underground conduits for the new traffic lights and street lighting.
We’ll be uploading some progress pictures next week, so keep an eye on our project page.
We know the delays are causing some headaches on the roads. We’re using real-time traffic data and CCTV footage to monitor traffic and are adjusting traffic lights and on-road signs as needed to keep you moving safely.
Thanks for your patience – it’ll all be worth it when the new intersection opens up on 13 July.
