Replacing the Barongarook Creek bridge

Back to Newsfeed

The 80-year-old Barongarook Creek bridge in Colac will soon be replaced by a brand new, purpose-built crossing. It will be able to withstand the increasing volumes of traffic and modern freight vehicles.

A temporary bridge has been installed to the side of the existing bridge, to allow construction to continue, while minimising impacts to traffic in and out of Colac.

The Princes Highway West – Winchelsea to Colac upgrade is expected to be completed in 2019.
