Beaufort Rail Bridge Strengthening

We're increasing the bridge's capacity and extending its life for future generations

The Beaufort rail bridge was built in 1965 and takes traffic over the Melbourne to Ararat railway line.

The strengthening works are required to increase the capacity of this bridge to meet current heavy vehicle standards. The works involve strengthening the bridge structure and upgrading the kerb and guardrail.

The Australian and Victorian governments have jointly invested $2.5 million to strengthen the rail bridge on the Western Highway at Beaufort.
