We’re building 5km of new walking and cycling paths to create a continuous connection between South Geelong, Marshall and Waurn Ponds stations.

Project benefits

  • safer journeys, improved local area access and better active transport options for the community
  • safe-walking and cycling connections into the Geelong CBD
  • improved connections to public transport, existing rail trails and new green open space
  • promote physical activity within the community
  • provide safer off-road travel options with wide paths and crossings over major intersections.

Project overview

New sections of walking and cycling paths will include:

  • the length of Carr Street
  • Breakwater Road to Gundog Lane joining Barwon Heads Road
  • along Station Road linking to Marshall Station
  • Marshall Station to Reserve Road. This will connect to the Baanip Boulevard path at the Surf Coast Highway level crossing and to the new shared user path along Barwon Heads Road. This is Major Road Projects Victoria.
  • extra parkiteers (bike cages) and bike hoops installed at South Geelong and Marshall stations.
