Intermittent and long-term changes to traffic and pedestrian conditions are required while we build State Library Station.
Victoria, Franklin, Swanston, A’Beckett, Therry and Queensbury streets
There will be intermittent partial footpath and overnight lane closures on Victoria, Franklin, Swanston, A’Beckett, Therry and Queensberry streets to allow for groundwater monitoring. Traffic management will be in place to safely guide pedestrians, cyclists and motorists around the work areas.
La Trobe Street
To ensure the safety of workers, motorists and cyclists during the construction of the new State Library Station, a 30km/h speed limit applies on La Trobe Street between Elizabeth and Swanston streets.
The northern footpath, directly adjacent to the work site, is also closed to pedestrians.
As of September 2023 for up to 12 months, the eastbound lanes on La Trobe Street, between Elizabeth and Swanston streets, are closed to through traffic for both motorists and cyclists.
