Melbourne’s first dedicated busway will make it quicker and easier to get to and from the city – slashing travel times for more than six million express bus trips a year.

Rapid bus lanes

Separated from the freeway from Doncaster to Hoddle Street, with buses travelling at up to 100km an hour.

Two park and rides

Work to build a brand new Park & Ride in Bulleen has already started and we'll upgrade Doncaster Park & Ride – doubling the number of commuter parking spaces for express bus services to the city.

A section of the Eastern Express busway in Bulleen and Balwyn North is on exhibition for public comment now as part of the North East Link Tunnels Urban Design and Landscape Plan.

Bulleen Park & Ride fast tracked

We’re building Melbourne’s first dedicated busway – starting with a new park and ride in Bulleen.

Bulleen Park & Ride will be a premium bus station including:

  • a 5000 square metre green roof community park
  • parking for up to 370 cars underneath
  • dedicated quick drop off and pick-up bays
  • walking and cycling paths that connect to Koonung Creek Trail
  • bike storage cage
  • ramps, toilets and myki services.

The new Bulleen Park & Ride is being fast-tracked and will be open by late 2022, ready for people to use before Doncaster Park & Ride is closed for major upgrades.

We will no longer need to build a temporary park and ride at Doncaster – reducing disruptions for passengers and creating opportunities to save more open space and keep more trees during construction.

Work to build the new Bulleen Park & Ride has started. More information is available in the December construction update.
