Melbourne’s first dedicated busway will make it quicker and easier to get to and from the city – slashing travel times for more than 6 million express bus trips a year.

Rapid bus lanes

Separated from the freeway from Doncaster to Hoddle Street, with buses travelling at up to 100km an hour.

Two park and rides

Work to build a brand new park and ride in Bulleen has started and we'll upgrade Doncaster Park & Ride – doubling the number of commuter parking spaces for express bus services to the city.

A section of the Eastern Express busway in Bulleen and Balwyn North was on exhibition for public comment from 11 May to 31 May 2022 as part of the North East Link Tunnels Urban Design and Landscape Plan.

Bulleen Park & Ride now in major construction

We’re building Melbourne’s first dedicated busway – starting with a new park and ride in Bulleen, which is more than halfway finished.

Bulleen Park & Ride will be a premium bus station including:

  • a 5000 square metre green roof community park
  • parking for up to 370 cars underneath
  • dedicated quick drop off and pick-up bays
  • walking and cycling paths that connect to Koonung Creek Trail
  • bike storage cage
  • ramps, toilets and myki services.

To date, crews have removed more than 34,000 cubic metres of dirt, installed 677 concrete piles to support the building structure and are more than halfway through pouring the concrete slab for the basement car park.

Major works installing the car park walls will continue over the coming months, and Bulleen Park & Ride will be complete by the end of 2022.
