With limited road reserve to use, North East Link is a challenging project to deliver and some private land is required for construction.
After almost 2 years of planning work the project managed to almost halve the number of homes that will be acquired from 75 to 36.
Up to 100 businesses, many in the Bulleen Industrial Zone, are likely to be acquired and we are working closely with bidders to try and reduce this number through the detailed design stage of the project.
Now that the environmental assessment process for the project is complete and the Victorian Minister for Planning has approved the project, the formal acquisition process has commenced.
In recognition of the difficult and uncertain circumstances coronavirus created, the start of the formal acquisition process was extended to the middle of 2020.
The formal acquisition is now continuing and we will keep working closely with all affected property owners and tenants throughout the process, while supporting impacted businesses.
