Major works now complete
Major works on the Hall Road Upgrade are now complete – a whopping nine months ahead of schedule.
On Tuesday 13 February, the project reached a huge milestone as we removed the temporary safety barriers and switched traffic onto the new east and westbound lanes.
We also opened the upgraded intersection at Taylors and Hall roads, which is the fourth and final intersection we’ve transformed as part of the upgrade.
As part of the project, we've:
- worked more than 693,000 hours on the upgrade
- built over 24km of new kerb and centre medians
- placed around 63,000 tonnes of asphalt
- installed over 14km of new guardrail
- installed over 1,800 new culverts to improve storm water flow and prevent future flooding.
Until Friday 1 March, we'll continue to work from 7pm to 6am each night to place the final layer of asphalt between McCormicks Road and the Western Port Highway.
Once these works are complete, we’ll turn our attention to finishing the shared walking and cycling paths and landscaping across the project.
We’ll also continue celebrating local indigenous culture with further sundial artworks, designed by Bunurong artist Adam Magennis, to be installed on Hall Road between Edinburgh Drive and Taylors Road.
At times, we’ll have lane and speed reductions in place along Hall Road until late May to finish these works safely.
Please drive carefully and follow the direction of traffic controllers.
