Creating inclusive opportunities through the M80 Ring Road Completion
As part of Major Road Project Victoria’s commitment to fostering a more inclusive and accessible civil infrastructure sector, the M80 Ring Road Completion proudly partnered with Yooralla in 2024 to support 2 participants from the Yooralla IMPACT program.
The program provides valuable work experience for people living with a disability and helps pave the way to more inclusive employment pathways.
Yooralla is one of Victoria’s leading disability support services, working alongside individuals and their support networks to help them achieve their goals and live the life they choose. With a wide range of services including employment and training support, Yooralla plays a vital role in building more inclusive communities.
Through this collaboration, two participants were engaged on the M80RR Completion – with one participant joining the Health and Well-being Team, while the other worked on-site with cleaning subcontractor, Shining Knight.
Each participant completed three hours of work one day a week, from September through to December 2024. Participants completed project inductions and were set up to feel supported as they worked towards their individual goals.
To accompany the program’s launch, an information session and awareness training was conducted for project staff, focusing on Down Syndrome and practical ways to support co-workers with disabilities.
This partnership with Yooralla and project delivery partners Acciona, Maca and Aecom, marked an important step in delivering the projects 2% disability employment target. More importantly, it reinforced the value of creating meaningful, supported opportunities for people of all abilities.
