As Landscape and Design Lead at Spark, Dev helps shape the parts of the North East Link Project that communities will interact with every day, from landscaping precincts and tree planting through to the architectural and urban design elements integrated across the project.
For Dev, one of the most rewarding aspects of working in construction is the opportunity to create something lasting for future generations. She says contributing to a resilient and sustainable asset that the community will use and enjoy for years to come is what makes the work meaningful.
Starting out in a traditionally male-dominated industry, Dev says one of her biggest challenges was overcoming feelings of intimidation and learning to speak up with confidence. Over time, she found that asking questions, staying curious and backing her own ideas helped her grow both professionally and personally.
Dev has also seen positive change across the industry, with more women entering engineering and construction roles and greater diversity becoming visible across project teams. She says having supportive colleagues and workplaces where people feel encouraged to contribute makes a significant difference in helping women succeed in the industry.
