Upfield line

We’re removing four level crossings on the Upfield Line

As part of Victoria’s Big Build, we’ve nearly finished removing four level crossings Upfield Line.

More than 1,000 people have been working around the clock to elevate almost two kilometres of track using locally manufactured U-Trough bridge segments. Once we finish up the work, drivers will no longer be delayed at Munro and Reynard streets, Moreland Road, or at the notorious Bell Street level crossing which frustrates 40,000 motorists every day.

While we finish building the new rail bridge buses will replace trains on the whole line from Monday 26 October to Sunday 1 November.

We are also building new stations at Coburg and Moreland which will be complete by December 2020. While they are being built Moreland and Coburg stations will remain closed. During this time trains will run express through the stations.

Responding to coronavirus

Restrictions are in place to help slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) and save lives. For more information visit the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) website.

In metropolitan Melbourne, you may only leave home for one of the permitted reasons.

With the exception of construction-related disruptions, regular public transport services are currently running to the normal timetable. Night Network services, which normally operate between 1am and 5am on Friday and Saturday nights, are currently suspended.

All services, stops and stations are being disinfected every day. Extra cleaning is being carried out on all bus replacement services.

While using trains, trams and buses, you must:

  • wear a mask (unless you have an exemption)
  • practise good hand hygiene
  • maximise the distance between you and other passengers.

Also try to travel outside peak times, when fewer people are using the network.
