27 March 2026

We’ve upgraded Ballarat Station to improve accessibility, safety, and connectivity for all public transport users, while considering the heritage of the station.

The Ballarat Station Upgrade project is nearing completion. We’ll open the accessible pedestrian overpass, with a lift and stairs to each platform before the first morning train on Monday 30 March 2026.

We invite the community to celebrate with us on Monday 30 March from 9am to 12 noon at Ballarat Station, with complimentary coffee, sweet treats, giveaways and musical performances.

With the major works almost complete, we reopened the local bus interchange on the northern side of the station on Sunday 1 March 2026.

The project team thanks the community for their patience during the construction of the Ballarat Station Upgrade.

What we’re doing

In March/April, we’ll continue works, including:

  • minor completion works on the lifts and overpass
  • minor completion works on the stairs and lift lobby areas
  • removing construction equipment and materials on the north and south sides of the station
  • removing the site compound in Ebden Street Reserve

The temporary bus layover bays on Railway Parade and Nolan Street will remain in place until late April 2026.

What to expect

While we work in Ballarat Station you may experience:

  • minimal noise levels
  • minimal vibration
  • construction vehicles in our project site areas and surrounding roads
  • increased truck and plant movements out of and near the site offices on Ebden Street Reserve

When we’ll work

We’ll work Monday to Friday 7am to 6pm and Saturdays 7am to 1pm. On Saturday 21 and 28 March we’ll work from 7am to 5pm.
