Building demolition and Lupton Way closure

We’re upgrading Boronia Station and building a new landscaped plaza on Dorset Road to deliver a modern and accessible precinct for the community.

What we’re doing

In February, we let you know about building demolition and relocating underground drainage and utilities on the Boronia Station upgrade project.

From Tuesday 24 February to Wednesday 11 March crews will complete building demolition works at 251 and 253 Dorset Road, Boronia, to make space for the new landscaped plaza.

From Tuesday 24 February to Saturday 21 March Lupton Way will be closed to vehicles while we relocate underground drainage and utilities and begin works on the new protective services office on Lupton Way.

What to expect

You may notice:

  • an increase in construction activity, machinery, vehicles and workers
  • an increase in noise, dust and vibration near works areas. Our team will have controls in place to reduce and monitor these impacts
  • reduced speed limits and traffic management in place around our works: please plan ahead in case of delays
  • no access to carparks at the rear of Station Arcade, via Lupton Way
  • carparks in Lupton Way will be used at times for works vehicles.

During the Lupton Way closure from Tuesday 24 February to Saturday 21 March, access to trader bins on Lupton Way will remain open, and we’ll facilitate access for collection throughout the works. Pedestrian access to the Station Arcade bathrooms on Lupton Way will be available at all times.

Changes to the way you travel

Please follow signage and detours. Traffic management will be in place during works to safely guide you through the area.

Road

  • Lupton Way closed to vehicles from Tuesday 24 February to Saturday 21 March. Detour via Dorset Road.
  • Dorset Road, between Chandler Road and Lupton Way from Tuesday 24 February to Wednesday 11 March.

Parking

  • No access to carparks at the rear of Station Arcade, via Lupton Way from Tuesday 24 February to Saturday 21 March.
  • Around four car parks closed outside 251 and 253 Dorset Road from Tuesday 24 February to Wednesday 11 March.

Pedestrian

  • Access closed between Chandler Road and the Lupton Way bend and Eastern station entrance closed from Tuesday 24 February to Saturday 21 March. Western station entrance remains open. Access via the southern footpath on Lupton Way.
  • Dorset Road, between Chandler Road and Lupton Way footpath closure from Tuesday 24 February to Wednesday 11 March. Detour via pedestrian crossings and the east side of Dorset Road.
