30 January 2026
We’re building West Tarneit Station to better connect the growing suburbs of the west to Melbourne’s CBD.
When the new V/Line station opens in 2026, it will include a 4-bay bus interchange, parking for up to 400 commuters, and an accessible pedestrian underpass. The new West Tarneit Station will also feature a welcoming and well-lit precinct, with landscaping, seating, separated walking and cycling paths, bike hoops and secure bike storage.
What we’re doing
The West Tarneit Station project team will undertake critical works in the rail corridor within the project site from 8pm until 6am each night on Friday 30, Saturday 31 January and Sunday 1 February 2026.
What to expect
While we work, you may notice project vehicles, lighting and a small work crew on the site. We expect that these works will have medium to high noise impact at various times.
Changes to the way you travel
There will be minor impacts to trains on the Geelong Line. Coaches will replace trains for the last 2 evening services on Saturday 31 January, and the first 2 morning services on Sunday 1 February.
Visit V/Line to plan your journey and allow extra time to travel.
