We're almost there

We are excited to announce that the Heatherdale Road Level Crossing Removal Project is nearing completion, with the finishing touches now being made to the area around the station.

We are working to fully reinstate all car parks to commuters by the end of May. The temporary car park that was created at 4–8 Heatherdale Road for the duration of our major car park closures has been handed back to its private owner.

A new 'kiss and ride' drop off point will open for customers on the north side of the new station. A section of the walking and cycling path from Purches Street – over the new pedestrian bridge to the north side of the rail and through to the station – is also now open for pedestrians and cyclists to use.

The ramp to Platform One recently opened and the new Parkiteer cage is now installed and ready to use. For those interested in securing a space inside the cage, please contact the Bicycle Network on 1300 546 525 or register online at Bicycle Network.

Landscaping will commence this month and will continue throughout the autumn planting season.

Removing the level crossing at Heatherdale Road has significantly improved the traffic flow in the area, with drivers and pedestrians now experiencing safer and smoother travel.

Before major work started in 2016, the Heatherdale Road level crossing was one of Victoria's worst, with boom gates down for around 66 minutes during the 2 hour morning peak.

Upcoming works 5 to 7 May

Belgrave/Lilydale line

To enable works in the rail corridor, the following disruptions to train services are planned:

• From 8.45pm Friday 5 May until 6.45am Sunday 7 May – buses will replace trains between Box Hill and Ringwood stations. Normal train services will resume from 6.45am Sunday 7 May.
• Travel times will be extended by up to 35 minutes, please allow extra time for your journey.

Disruptions

Works from 5 to 7 May will focus on areas around Heatherdale Station and within the rail cutting. Some works will be carried out at night in the rail cutting, but are unlikely to generate disruptive noise.

Community corner

The station has been spruced up with the installation of four digi-glass panels.

Working with the Heatherdale Action Community Group, the project team selected four images of local native plants, which are now on display in the station forecourt.
