1 March 2024

We’re removing the level crossings at Dublin Road, Ringwood East and Bedford Road, Ringwood, which will make Ringwood level crossing free in 2024, a year ahead of schedule.

Works taking place

We are working 24/7 till late March to remove the level crossing at Bedford Road on the Belgrave Line in Ringwood.

As part of this work, we will need to temporarily use a section of vacant Council land adjacent to the FJC Rodgers Reserve on Campbell Street, Heathmont to deliver and store crushed rock to be used to build the new rail trench at Bedford Road.

We will start accessing the site from 7am, Monday 4 March until 6pm, Monday 11 March 2024.

This site will need to be accessed on a 24-hour basis and we reinstate the site following the completion of our works.

What to expect

We will install temporary fencing around the site to ensure there is a safe delineation between our work site and local residents. The Heathmont Rail Trail and FJC Rodgers Reserve will remain accessible to community members at all times.

Trucks carrying crushed rock will be moving in and out of the Campbell Street site on a 24/7 basis from Monday 4 March until Monday 11 March 2024.

Residents may experience increased noise levels and associated impacts including:

  • increased truck movements and noise from trucks and other vehicles in the area, during the day, and
  • an increase in construction noise, activity and some dust, with vehicles, machinery and workers on site.

Please be aware that works can sometimes take longer than expected or need to be rescheduled due to weather and other factors outside of our control.

We encourage local residents to contact us if they have any further queries about these works. Residents most impacted by these works will be contacted directly.

Traffic management

To ensure the safety of road users during these works, traffic controls will be in place around the works area. This includes speed reductions and intermittent ‘stop and slow’ as trucks move in and out of the Campbell Street site.

Trucks will be instructed to use Canterbury Road and Bedford Road to move material to our Bedford Road site to reduce the impact of these works to local residents along Campbell Street.
