16 April 2024

We’ve removed the dangerous and congested level crossing at Bedford Road, Ringwood by lowering the rail line into a rail trench.

Construction continues to remove the level crossing at Dublin Road, Ringwood East which will make Ringwood level crossing free in 2024, a year ahead of schedule.

We’ll now undertake ongoing finishing works around Bedford Road and the rail corridor, such as cleaning up our sites and building the missing walking and cycling link between the Heathmont Rail Trail and Bedford Park.

In April 2024, we’ll continue to work during the day from 7am to 6pm in and around the rail corridor. These works will continue until late July 2024.

Works will include:

  • removing temporary fencing
  • removing portable site sheds
  • finishing footpath reinstatement on a section of Pitt Street and Great Ryrie Street
  • building the shared use path in the rail corridor
  • vegetation removal in some locations of the rail corridor
  • ground investigations, soil sampling and underground service investigations using non-destructive digging machinery and hand tools.
