30 March 2022
The Victorian Government is removing the level crossing on Glenroy Road and building a new Glenroy Station. By Saturday 14 May, the level crossing will be gone for good with trains running to the new station.
In April and May, we will be completing works in the rail trench as well as preparing the new station to open. We will start carparking and landscaping works in Dowd Place on the western side of the new rail line, ready for the area to open in mid-September.
From 26 April to 14 May, we will be undertaking 24 hour works to remove the level crossing. The new Glenroy Station will open to passengers from 7 May. Works to remove the boom gates will continue on Glenroy Road, with 24 hour works until 14 May.
Construction activities
Over the coming months, the following activities will be taking place:
- Construction of the new roundabout at the intersection of Hartington and Nelson streets
- Works to complete the Glenroy Road bridge, barriers and screening
- Connecting the train line and rail infrastructure in the rail trench
- Installing fixtures, utilities and staff and passenger facilities at the new station
- Traffic management will be in place during these works. Please follow any signage and instructions from traffic management when travelling around the area.
Every effort will be made to complete these works on time, however dates are subject to change.
