We have developed 4 design aims to guide urban design and delivery of the Webster Street Level Crossing Removal Project.

These aims are created to ensure the project meets requirements to deliver functional designs with improved urban design outcomes.

The guiding principles below are developed through research as well as technical and environmental assessments.

Support the growth of the city and the evolving contextual identity

Positively respond to the existing cultural identity and architectural expression while contributing to the foundation for urban renewal.

Improve and establish active transport connections

Prioritise pedestrian and cyclist accessibility, safety and amenity that provides better connections in all directions.

Strengthen the presence and value of the Dandenong Creek

Draw upon the historical and ecological context of the Dandenong Creek corridor to improve the city’s environmental performance.

Identify and embrace Cultural Heritage

Appropriately acknowledge and respond to the Indigenous significance of the site through meaningful engagement with Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation.
