6 October 2026
We’ve made the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines level crossing free by removing the dangerous and congested Webster Street level crossing and building a new road under the rail line, connecting Princes Highway-Lonsdale Street to Cheltenham and Hammond roads. Dandenong’s new road underpass opened on Tuesday 22 September.
What we’re doing
To safely maintain the new road underpass, landscaping and surrounding roads, we’ll intermittently close lanes, roads, pedestrian paths and parking spaces along sections of Cheltenham and Hammond roads, Dow Court, Merle Parade, and Heart, Princes Highway-Lonsdale, Thomas and Webster streets from Monday 5 October to Friday 18 December.
What to expect
- Intermittent and short term lane, road, pedestrian path closures and temporary parking space closures.
- Increased noise, vibration, vehicles and workers in the area.
- Water carts and street sweepers will minimise dust.
- We’ll work from 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday and 7am to 3pm, Saturdays and at times overnight from 8pm to 6am.
Properties impacted by these works will be contacted directly. Access will be maintained for residents, businesses and emergency services.
We’ll make every effort to complete works on schedule; however, dates and times are subject to change.
