9 September 2025
We’re removing the level crossings at McDonald Street in Mordialloc and Station Street in Aspendale by building new rail bridges. We have now also closed the Bear Street level crossing in Mordialloc to vehicles and are building a new Mordialloc Station.
In August we let you know about our September works. This notice provides updated dates and further details of these works, which are continuing into October.
What we’re doing
Major construction is continuing as we build foundations and install beams for the new rail bridges. During September and October, we will:
- continue piling, earth and civil works
- install new services and rail systems
- carry out electrical and signal upgrades, install cables and remove overhead wires in the rail corridor
- deliver and install up to six concrete beams overnight.
There may be temporary utility service interruptions to local homes. Utility companies are responsible for notifying customers of any interruptions. Please contact your utility provider if you have any questions.
Upcoming night works
To complete essential rail bridge works, including piling, installing concrete beams and rail systems, we’ll continue working during the day and at night in the rail corridor:
- From 7pm, Monday 15 September to 5pm, Friday 31 October between Lewis Street and Bear Street, Mordialloc and Attenborough Road and James Avenue, Aspendale.
- From 7pm, Tuesday 16 to Friday 19 September between Attenborough Road and James Avenue, Aspendale.
- Until 5pm, Thursday 25 September between McDonald Street and Bear Street, Mordialloc
- From 7pm, Monday 22 to Thursday 25 September between Attenborough Road and James Avenue, Aspendale.
- From 9pm, Friday 3 October to 3am, Monday 6 October between Como Parade West, Parkdale and Eulinga Avenue, Aspendale
During this time, you may notice:
- an increase in construction activity, machinery, vehicles and workers in the area
- additional lighting at night, directed away from residential properties where possible
- noticeable construction noise, dust and vibration in the area
Overnight oversized deliveries
To minimise disruption to daytime traffic, oversized machinery and materials will be delivered overnight by trucks and cranes via Albrt Street, Park Street, Governor Road, McDonald Street and Station Street between approximately 11pm and 5am on a range of dates until late October.
There will be intermittent road closures and some delays due to overnight oversized deliveries. We’ll be in touch with directly impacted residents and traders in advance.
We’ll make every effort to complete these works on schedule, however dates are subject to change.
