19 December 2025
We’re removing the level crossings at McDonald Street in Mordialloc and Station Street in Aspendale by building new rail bridges. We've already closed the Bear Street, Mordialloc level crossing and are building a new Mordialloc Station.
What we’re doing
To complete essential works in preparation for the new road connections in Aspendale, we’ll be working overnight for 2 weeks from mid-January.
Crews will work at night from 7pm to 7am Thursday 15 to Friday 23 January on essential drainage and earthworks within the rail corridor. Directly impacted residents will be contacted in advance.
In November 2025, we let you know about works happening in Mordialloc and Aspendale across December 2025 and January 2026. These works are continuing. Visit levelcrossings.vic.gov.au/mordialloc to see all works.
What to expect
We’ll aim to minimise construction noise and vibration at night by completing certain works during the day. However, near works areas you may notice:
- some moderate levels of noise and vibration
- an increase in construction workers and machinery
- additional lighting, directed away from residential properties where possible.
We’ll make every effort to complete these works on schedule, however dates may change.
Changes to the way you travel
Road and footpath access may change at times while these works are carried out during night shifts. We will update you through local signage, letterbox notifications, and SMS alerts, which you can subscribe to by texting MRD to 0429 839 892.
