12 December 2024
We’re removing the level crossings at McDonald Street in Mordialloc and Station Street in Aspendale by building new rail bridges. We’re also removing and closing the Bear Street level crossing in Mordialloc and building a new Mordialloc Station.
Works in Mordialloc and Aspendale are underway as we prepare for major construction next year.
What we’re doing
During December and January, we’ll:
- install temporary fencing around the project area
- install concrete barriers on roads, including Station Street and Nepean Highway
- continue ground works and investigations
- prepare the ground near the rail corridor for construction work.
Third party utility companies will investigate, install and relocate underground services near the project. We’ll work from 7am to 6pm weekdays and 7am to 3pm Saturdays.
There will be no activities on site from Saturday 21 December to Monday 13 January, works will resume Tuesday 14 January.
What to expect
During this time, there will be changes to the way you travel in the area. This includes changes to car parking, pedestrian and cycling paths, local bus stop locations and pedestrian access across the rail line.
You may notice an increase in construction workers and machinery, including moderate noise and vibration at times.
