We’re removing the level crossings at McDonald Street in Mordialloc and Station Street in Aspendale by building new rail bridges. We’re also removing and closing the Bear Street level crossing in Mordialloc and building a new Mordialloc Station.

Throughout March and April, we’ll work on McDonald Street, Main Street Service Road and Albert Street in Mordialloc to build a new slip lane onto Nepean Highway, relocate underground utilities and complete additional road works to support traffic changes.

McDonald Street will close to vehicles between Albert Street and Main Street Service Road from Monday 3 March to mid April.

There will be temporary road closures and pedestrian detours to help you move safely through the area. We’ll also temporarily close sections of station and council car parks nearby.

What to expect

At times, we’ll work at night and will contact impacted residents in advance. We try to minimise construction related impacts where possible, however you may notice moderate levels of noise and vibration and an increase in construction workers and machinery.

Permanent parking closures on McDonald Street and Main Street Service Road

We need to make traffic changes in the area, including building a new slip lane onto Nepean Highway to make sure traffic continues to flow smoothly through the new boom gate-free area.

From Monday 3 March, 8 on street car spaces on McDonald Street will close permanently to enable the road changes.

From mid March, 6 car spaces south of McDonald Street on Main Street Service Road will close permanently to make space for a new entry to the service road from Nepean Highway. Signage will be in place ahead of time.

Changes to the way you travel in Mordialloc

McDonald Street

  • Closed between Albert Street and Main Street Service Road from Monday 3 March to mid April.  Access to the car park near Mordialloc Men’s Shed will be available via a temporary access road (ROWY) behind Main Street shops.
  • On street parking closed permanently between Albert Street and Main Street Service Road from Monday 3 March.

Albert Street

  • Closed between Lewis Street and McDonald Street from early March for one week.

Main Street Service Road (south of McDonald Street)

  • Access from McDonald Street closed from mid March to mid April 24 hours a day. Use Main Street/Nepean Highway entries.
  • Approximately 22 car spaces closed from mid March to mid April. Up to 10 spaces reopening from late March.
  • 6 car spaces closed permanently from mid March.

Main Street Service Road (north of McDonald Street)

  • No vehicle access, pedestrian access only from early April to mid April. Impacted residents and businesses will be contacted with more information.

McDonald Street Right of Way (lane behind Main Street shops)

  • Restricted vehicle and pedestrian access at times, with sections of commuter car parking closed from mid February to mid April.

Nepean Highway / Main Street (northbound)

  • No right hand turn into McDonald Street from early March to mid April.

Nepean Highway / Main Street (southbound)

  • Left lane closed at the McDonald Street roundabout from mid March to late March.

Mordialloc Station car parks and access

  • Changes to station parking and access at times from Monday 3 February to early March. Visit the PTV Website for more information.
