The Victorian Government is removing 27 dangerous level crossings and building 17 new stations, making the Frankston Line level crossing free by 2029 and improving safety, reducing congestion and allowing more trains to run more often. We’re removing the level crossings at Warrigal Road, Mentone and Parkers Road, Parkdale, and building a new Parkdale Station.

What we’re doing

We’ll be doing night works within the rail corridor near Warrigal Road level crossing for critical works that must be finished by Sunday 22 October, when we begin works to move trains from the existing rail line to the new temporary track.

We'll work from:

  • Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 October, 6pm to 7am each night
  • 6pm to 7am, Friday 20 October.

Trains will be running on the temporary track from early November. Warrigal Road will reopen to traffic on Sunday 22 October.

We will be:

  • delivering and laying ballast
  • building the slew track
  • asphalting and line marking to reinstate Warrigal Road.

We will have traffic management on site to keep you and our workers safe around our work area.

What to expect

During these night works, you may notice:

  • moderate to high noise from construction machinery
  • noise from trucks entering and leaving the site and delivering materials
  • an increase in workers, vehicles, and construction equipment
  • light towers directed away from housing, minimal generator noise
  • crews using site offices, compounds and laydown areas out of hours.
