14 March 2025
The Victorian Government is making the Frankston Line level crossing free by 2029, improving safety and easing congestion.
Parkdale Level Crossing Removal Project is almost complete, with majority of open space accessible to the community, including the shared use path, open air gym and village green. The final stage of the project will include landscaping, which will be completed by late April.
What we’re doing
During March and April, we will be:
- installing pedestrian crossing points including pram ramps and kerb outstands
- installing speed humps and traffic islands and line marking pedestrian crossings
- installing bus stop infrastructure along Como Parade East including shelters with 708 returning to its original route on Friday 21 March.
- building the nature-based playground in the open space
- commissioning the pedestrian operated traffic signals at Parkers Road
- landscaping from mid March until end of April.
Works will take place during the following times:
- 7am to 6pm, weekdays
- 7am to 3pm, Saturdays
- 7pm to 7am, as required.
What to expect
- Garden landscapers working in open space locations underneath the rail bridge and along the open space.
- Some delays and detours on roads and footpaths while we work on the pedestrian crossings and bus stops, with signage and traffic management in place.
- Short-term impacts to street parking.
- Night works at Parkers Road underneath the viaduct.
