21 December 2023
The Victorian Government is removing 27 dangerous level crossings and building 17 new stations, making the Frankston Line level crossing free by 2029 and improving safety, reducing congestion, and allowing more trains to run more often. We’re removing the level crossings at Warrigal Road, Mentone and Parkers Road, Parkdale, and building a new Parkdale Station.
What we’re doing
- We’ll work at night from Monday 15 January to Thursday 25 January to prepare for the delivery of super-structures, which are a critical structural component of the new rail bridge.
- The worksite will shut down for the holiday period from Saturday 23 December to Sunday 7 January.
What you will notice
We try to minimise construction-related impacts where possible, however you may notice:
- an increase of workers, construction vehicles and machinery in the rail corridor and near the old station area
- localised, medium levels of noise from hand-tools.
When we work at night, additional lighting will be in place and will be directed away from residential properties where possible.
We’ll make every effort to complete works on schedule, however dates are subject to change. If we need to complete further night works, impacted residents will be notified in advance.
