1 November 2023

The Victorian Government is removing 27 dangerous level crossings and building 17 new stations, making the Frankston Line level crossing free by 2029 and improving safety, reducing congestion and allowing more trains to run more often. We’re removing the level crossings at Warrigal Road, Mentone and Parkers Road, Parkdale, and building a new Parkdale Station.

What we’re doing

From Saturday 4 November, trains will operate on the new temporary track until 2024. This will keep Frankston Line trains running while we build the new rail bridge.

The Warrigal Road boom gates have been relocated a few metres east to provide safe pedestrian and vehicle crossing of the temporary track.

Changes to the way you travel

A new temporary pedestrian crossing on the south side of Warrigal Road will allow pedestrians to access Como Parade West and Como Parade East. There is no right turn from Warrigal Road into Como Parade East when travelling east until the new rail bridge is operating in mid 2024 and the temporary track is removed.

This change has been put in place to ensure the safety of road users and pedestrians.
