The following maps outline the construction sequencing for the Fitzgerald Road Level Crossing Removal Project and associated access arrangements for the Croatian Catholic Centre Sunshine (CCCS).
Stage 1
Construction of Whitesides Ave access
April 2021 to June 2021
- All existing access points remain open with the northern access point to be used for construction vehicles.
- Western Ring Road path closed early May. Detours in place.
- Temporary offset gravel carparking constructed north of new Whitesides Ave access.
Stage 2
New Fitzgerald Rd Access, Service Relocations & Temporary Road Construction
June 2021 - October 2021
- New Fitzgerald Rd access opening in July/ August.
- Northern access closed permanently from 13 July.
- Following 23 July, access will be maintained via Whitesides Ave, Fitzgerald Rd ceremonial access and either the middle access point on Fitzgerald Road or the new Fitzgerald Road access point.
- Occasional closures of access points on Fitzgerald Rd may be required, including Ceremonial Drive. If this occurs, the new middle gate will be available for use.
Stage 3
Long term traffic management
October 2021 - June 2022
- Permanent closure of existing Northern and Middle access points.
- Church access to be via new Fitzgerald Rd access point, ceremonial access, and Whitesides Ave access point.
- Fitzgerald Rd north of Whitesides Ave to be shared with Construction vehicles.
Stage 4
Final alignment tie-in works
July 2022
- Existing northern access points permanently closed.
- New Fitzgerald Rd access point and Ceremonial access point closure for approximately 1.5 weeks to complete final tie-in works of new Fitzgerald Rd road alignment.
- Whiteside Ave access point to remain open.
Stage 5
July 2022 - Nov 2022
- Weekend road closure to complete remaining tie-in works and switch all traffic to new road alignment.
- Church access by Ceremonial access, new Fitzgerald Rd and Whitesides Ave access points.
- Construction off offset carparking required as a result of new Fitzgerald Rd access alignment.
