We’ve removed the level crossings at Hopkins Road in Truganina and Ferris Road in Melton. The new modern and accessible Melton Station will open and the boom gates will be gone at Coburns and Exford roads making Melton level crossing free in September.

We’re closing Exford Road between Staughton Street and Brooklyn Road from 7pm, Tuesday 11 August to 7am, Monday 31 August.

We’re also working 24 hours a day at Melton Station and along the rail corridor between Coburns and Ferris roads from 12:01am, Wednesday 12 August to 4am, Tuesday 1 September.

What we're doing

  • Resurfacing works on Creek Street.
  • Installing the final rail bridge segments over Exford Road.
  • Lowering and resurfacing a section of Exford Road.
  • Building the new Melton Station.

Changes to the way you travel

Road

Exford Road

  • Closed between Staughton Street and Brooklyn Road from 7pm, Tuesday 11 August to 7am, Monday 31 August.
  • Detour via Wilson, Richard and Coburns roads.
  • Pedestrian access maintained.

Creek Street

  • Closed from 7pm, Tuesday 11 August to 7pm, Thursday 13 August.
  • Pedestrian access maintained.
  • Alternative parking available on the corner of Brooklyn and Exford roads.

Creek Street

  • Closed from 7pm, Thursday 13 August to Monday 31 August.
  • Access maintained via temporary road from Brooklyn Road.
  • No right turn access onto Brooklyn Road.
  • Traffic management on hand to assist.

Rail

  • There will be service changes on the Ballarat, Ararat and Maryborough lines from first service, Wednesday 12 August to last service, Monday 31 August. Visit Transport Victoria for more information and to plan your journey. Please allow extra travel time.

What to expect

  • Works 24 hours a day, with increased lighting, noise, vibration and traffic in the area
  • Dust minimised with watercarts.
