7 August 2025

We’re removing 4 dangerous and congested level crossings at Coburns, Exford and Ferris roads in Melton, and Hopkins Road in Truganina to make Melton boom gate free in 2026. We’re also building a new modern and accessible Melton Station.

What we’re doing

Construction is underway for the new Melton Station and the rail bridges over Coburns and Exford roads.

As we build the foundations for the new rail bridge, Exford Road will be closed from Brooklyn Road to Staughton Street from 8pm, Friday 5 September to 5am, Thursday 11 September.

During these works there will be road and pedestrian impacts. Please follow signage and direction from traffic controllers.

What to expect

  • Detours in place via Wilson Road to the south and Brooklyn Road to the north.
  • Traffic management in place
  • Construction vehicles and workers in the area.
  • An increase in noise and traffic movement in the area.

Access to businesses and homes will be maintained at all times. Please allow extra time when travelling through the area.

We’ll make every effort to complete works on schedule, however dates and times are subject to change.
