We’re removing 4 dangerous and congested level crossings at Coburns, Exford and Ferris roads in Melton, and Hopkins Road in Truganina to make Melton boom gate free in 2026. We’re also building a new modern and accessible Melton Station.

We’re removing the level crossing at Ferris Road by building a new road bridge over the rail line. Works to prepare the area for construction of the road bridge foundations are underway.

What we’re doing

  • Relocating essential services, including water, sewerage, gas, telecommunications and electricity.
  • Continuing earthworks and ground improvement works along Ferris Road, on both sides of the level crossing.

Upcoming disruptions

Night works

  • We’ll be working at night from 7pm tp 5am on Sunday 13 April and Monday 14 April to commence water pipeline relocation works along Ferris Road.

Road

  • To minimise impact, there will be lane closures along Ferris Road from 7pm to 5am on Sunday 13 April and Monday 14 April.

What to expect

  • We anticipate these works to be low impact. However, you may experience an increase in construction noise, vehicles, works crews, large machinery and deliveries in the area.
  • Traffic management in place, including lane closures and reduced speed limits at times.
