30 March 2026
We’re removing 4 dangerous and congested level crossings at Coburns, Exford and Ferris roads in Melton, and Hopkins Road in Truganina to make Melton boom gate free in 2026. We’re also building a new modern and accessible Melton Station.
We’re removing the level crossing at Ferris Road by building a new road bridge over the rail line. Thank you for your patience as we deliver this important project.
What we’re doing
In April, works will include:
- utility investigations along Ferris Road, Coach Street and Hollingsworth Drive
- constructing the new Ferris Road bridge including pavement works and barrier installation
- painting the road bridge panels and barriers
- landscaping in the area.
What to expect
- Until late 2026, there will be a long-term pedestrian closure along Ferris Road and surrounding areas with detours in place.
- Traffic management, including intermittent stops, lane closures and reduced speed limits will be in place at times. Delays may be experienced.
- Increase in construction vehicles, works crews, large machinery and deliveries.
- You may experience an increase in construction noise, light and vibration.
- Unforeseen weather conditions may affect our progress and require additional works outside of normal hours. We’ll contact impacted stakeholders prior to any work commencing.
