5 December 2025
Upcoming works - December
We’re removing 4 dangerous and congested level crossings at Coburns, Exford and Ferris roads in Melton, and Hopkins Road in Truganina to make Melton boom gate free in 2026. We’re also building a new modern and accessible Melton Station.
We’re removing the level crossing at Ferris Road by building a new road bridge over the rail line. Over the coming months, we will continue constructing the bridge deck and installing retaining walls. Thank you for your patience while we continue this important infrastructure project.
December lane closures along Ferris Road
In December, we’ll be completing some service investigation works in the area. To safely complete these works, there will be intermittent lane closures at times along Ferris Road.
Traffic on Ferris Road will still be able to travel in either direction under traffic management.
What to expect
- Until late 2026, there will be a long-term pedestrian closure along Ferris Road with detours in place.
- Traffic management, including intermittent stops, lane closures and reduced speed limits will be in place at times. Delays may be experienced.
- Increase in construction vehicles, works crews, large machinery and deliveries.
- You may experience an increase in construction noise, light and vibration.
- Unforeseen weather conditions may affect our progress and require additional works outside of normal hours. We’ll contact impacted stakeholders prior to works commencing.
Site shutdown period
There will be no construction activity during the holiday period. Construction works will finish on Friday 19 December 2025 and restart on Tuesday 13 January 2026.
