27 July 2026

We’ve removed the level crossings at Hopkins Road in Truganina and Ferris Road in Melton. The new modern and accessible Melton Station will open and the boom gates will be gone at Coburns and Exford roads making Melton level crossing free in September.

The new Ferris Road bridge is open to traffic, with the dangerous and congested level crossing gone for good. Thank you for your patience while we completed these important works.

During August, we’ll continue to work in the area to:

  • remove old road and rail infrastructure
  • upgrade signalling
  • undertake landscaping, lighting and completion works in the area.

Upcoming Exford Road closure

As part of the Exford Road level crossing removal works, Exford Road will be closed between Staughton Street and Brooklyn Road from 7pm, Tuesday 11 August to 7am, Monday 31 August. See detour map below.
