6 August 2025

We’re removing 4 dangerous and congested level crossings at Coburns, Exford and Ferris roads in Melton, and Hopkins Road in Truganina to make Melton boom gate free in 2026. We’re also building a new modern and accessible Melton Station.

We’re removing the level crossing at Ferris Road by building a new road bridge over the rail line. Over the coming months, we’ll continue building the foundations of the new road bridge on both sides of the level crossing in preparation for installation of the bridge beams.

Upcoming 24/7 works

To build the new road bridge, we’ll need to work 24/7 at times in August and September.

We'll work from:

  • 7pm Friday 29 August until 7am Sunday 31 August
  • 7pm Friday 5 September until 7am Monday 15 September.

We’ll also work at night between 7pm and 7am at times throughout August.

We’ll notify impacted stakeholders ahead of works and minimise disruptions where possible.

Ferris Road lane closure

We’ll close the southbound lane on Ferris Road between Abey Road and Hollingsworth Drive at times between 7pm, Friday 8 August to 7am, Friday 15 August to safely undertake preparatory works for the new road bridge. See road detour map below.
