7 July 2025

We’re removing 4 dangerous and congested level crossings at Coburns, Exford and Ferris roads in Melton, and Hopkins Road in Truganina to make Melton boom gate free in 2026. We’re also building a new modern and accessible Melton Station.

We’re removing the level crossing at Hopkins Road by building a new road bridge over the rail line.

In July, in addition to ongoing works, we’ll work at night in the rail corridor while no trains are running from Sunday 20 July to Wednesday 23 July, 10pm and 4am each night.

What we’re doing

  • Continuing earthworks and installing drainage to construct the new road bridge embankment.
  • Constructing the new shared use path.
  • Installing sections of the retaining wall to support the road bridge foundations.
  • Transporting vehicles and machinery across the construction site and via Hopkins Road.
  • Installing formwork and pouring concrete to form the road bridge foundations and walls.
  • Constructing the bridge support structures in the rail corridor while no trains are running.
