7 June 2025

We’re removing 4 dangerous and congested level crossings at Coburns, Exford and Ferris roads in Melton, and Hopkins Road in Truganina to make Melton boom gate free in 2026. We’re also building a new modern and accessible Melton Station.

We’re removing the level crossing at Hopkins Road by building a new road bridge over the rail line.

In June, we’ll work 24/7 from 7pm, Friday 30 May to 7am, Monday 2 June in the rail corridor while trains are not running. Hopkins Road will remain open during this time.

We’ll also work at night in the rail corridor from Sunday 22 June to Wednesday 25 June, 10pm to 4am each night.

What we’re doing

  • Continuing earthworks to construct the new road bridge embankment.
  • Installing sections of the retaining wall to support the road bridge foundations.
  • Transporting vehicles and machinery across the construction site and via Hopkins Road.
  • Installing formwork and pouring concrete to form the road bridge foundations and walls.
  • Constructing the bridge support structures in the rail corridor while no trains are running.
  • Completing underground service relocation works in the rail corridor.
