We’ve removed the level crossings at Coburns, Exford and Ferris roads in Melton and at Hopkins Road in Truganina and the new accessible Melton Station is open to passengers.

Thank you for your patience while we’re putting the finishing touches on the Melton Station precinct until early 2027. Works are continuing on the northern forecourt, air-conditioned waiting room, toilet facilities, bus interchange, landscaping and car parks.

What we're doing

We’ll be working at night in and around the rail corridor between Coburns Road and Ferris Road from 9pm to 4am each night, Sunday 11 October to Tuesday 13 October.

We’ll also be working 24 hours a day in and around the rail corridor between Coburns Road and FerrisRoad from 10pm, Friday 16 October to 4am, Monday 19 October.

There will also be ongoing works in and around the Melton Station precinct until early 2027.

Changes to the way you travel

Road

  • Staughton Street between Coburns and Exford roads short term lane closures from Saturday 10 October until late 2026.
  • Brooklyn Road between Hazel Street and Exford Road closed at times overnight and lane closures at times from Saturday 10 October to late 2026.

Pedestrian

  • Staughton Street between Coburns and Exford roads short-term shared path closures with detours in place from Saturday 10 October until late 2026.
  • Brooklyn Road between Hazel Street and Exford Road ongoing footpath closures with detours in place from Saturday 10 October until late 2026.

Parking

  • Brooklyn Road between Hazel Street and Exford Road, on street car parking spaces closed at times from Saturday 10 October until late 2026.
  • Staughton Street between Coburns and Exford roads short-term closure of the pick up and drop off bay from Saturday 10 October until late 2026.
  • Southern Melton Station car park on Staughton Street staged temporary car space closures with up to 30 car spaces closed at a time from until late 2026.

Bus

  • Staughton Street between Coburns and Exford roads bus bay 1 (routes 454, 453 & FlexiRide) temporarily relocated to the pick up and drop off bay from Saturday 10 October until late 2026.

Rail

While we complete these works, there will be service changes on the Ballarat, Ararat and Maryborough lines:

  • Coaches replace evening trains between Southern Cross Station and Wendouree Station from Sunday 11 October to Wednesday 14 October and Friday 16 October.
  • Coaches replace all trains between Bacchus Marsh Station and Caroline Springs Station from first service on Saturday 17 October to last service, Sunday 18 October.

Melton Station precinct

Station completion works including glazing, cladding, painting and platform works from Sunday 11 October to Monday 19 October

What to expect

  • Works 24 hours a day, with increased lighting, noise and vibration in the area 
  • Traffic delays with detours in place 
  • Increased truck and construction vehicle movements 
  • Dust minimised with watercarts.

Traffic management and signage will be in place to help you move around the area and access to homes and businesses will be maintained.
