We’re removing 4 dangerous and congested level crossings at Coburns, Exford and Ferris roads in Melton, and Hopkins Road in Truganina to make Melton boom gate free in 2026. We’re also building a new modern and accessible Melton Station.
What we're doing
Construction is underway for the new Melton Station and the rail bridges over Coburns and Exford roads.
We’ll be working during the night at times throughout August to relocate underground utilities and construct retaining walls for the rail bridges.
Where and when we'll be working
Toolern Creek rail corridor
- We'll be working in the rail corridor from Toolern Creek to west of Coburns Road from 9.35pm to 4am each night from Sunday 17 August to Wednesday 20 August and from 6am, Saturday 30 August to 10pm, Sunday 31 August.
Brooklyn Road
- Closed between Exford Road and Hazel Street from 9pm, Friday 22 August to 5am, Saturday 23 August.
What to expect
- Vehicle access to Brooklyn Road from Exford Road to Hazel Street will be temporarily unavailable from 9pm, Friday 22 August to 5am, Saturday 23 August. Access to businesses and residential properties will be maintained at all times
- construction vehicles and workers in the area
- an increase in noise and traffic movement in the area.
Please follow signage and direction from traffic controllers and allow extra time when travelling through the area.
We'll make every effort to complete works on schedule however dates and times are subject to change.
