14 February 2025

We’re removing the Ruthven Street level crossing by building a rail bridge over the road to make Macleod level crossing-free in 2027.

We’re undertaking site investigations to help us understand local conditions and inform the project’s concept designs.

What we’re doing

We’ll be working at night from 8pm to 6am, Friday 28 February and Friday 7 March to locate underground services and investigate road and ground conditions.

To safely conduct these works, Ruthven and Chapman streets will be closed from McNamara Street to Thomson Drive. The northern end of Ellesmere Parade will also be closed.

What to expect

  • An increase in noise
  • additional lighting for night works
  • construction workers with digging equipment and vehicles on Ruthven and Champman streets near the level crossing
  • Traffic management with a detour in place for vehicles and pedestrians.

Access to homes and businesses will be maintained at all times.

We’ll make every effort to complete works on schedule, however dates are subject to change.
